A Gainesville man was arrested Monday on aggravated stalking after sheriff's deputies say he violated a permanent injunction.
Joseph Cornelius Young, 36, of Southwest 31st Place, violated a permanent injunction for protection against domestic violence that was signed Aug. 4, according to an Alachua County Sheriff's Office warrant affidavit. He damaged a woman's vehicle, followed the vehicle and went to the woman's residence.
Young and the woman had been in a relationship for 10 years and share a son.
The woman told police in December that a white Toyota Avalon was near her residence, and she heard the defendant say a nickname for their son, the arrest report says. When the woman went to a CVS on Northwest 23rd Avenue, she saw Young get out of the Avalon and approach her. She drove away but not before Young scratched the hood of the vehicle twice. Police estimated the damage at $300.
Young followed the woman to her home and walked to the front door, yelling at her and calling a witness a crude phrase before leaving, according to the report.
The permanent injunction forbids Young to go within 500 feet of the residence or within 100 feet of her vehicle.
The victim also told police she got seven phone calls from Young one day in December.
